OnSix Gallery, SF, September 2006. This was for a big group show in multiple galleries called "Labryinth". I wanted this installation to interact with the pre-existing elements in the space, such as the paint job and the fire alarm underneath it. Also, the dimentions of the space I was given to work in. Some of the lines even up to where 2x4's left off, etc. I wanted this to feel as though it had been born there. The other aspect of it is that it is titled "Life On Market/Machine", and I wanted it to be a reflection of this neighborhood; the cruelty and beauty of it. One the left is the happy escape. Stormtrooper art, I heard. I think it's one of the best things I've ever done. The materials are found industrial parts, paper background, acrylic, enamel, and aerosol. Thanks to Sham & Chris at OnSix Gallery! |
